Hurri-Dry Nationwide on the Florida Panhandle fires

Updated: May 8, 2020

BENN FARRELL

Florida – Residents in the Florida Panhandle were evacuated and homes burned as three wildfires between Pensacola and Walton County raged, the first starting since May 4.

Along the south side of Interstate 10 through Santa Rosa County, hundreds of structures are threatened with fire and smoke damage. The panhandle is abnormally dry or in a drought like most of the state presently.

May 6, 1,100 residents were told to evacuate their homes while at least 17 homes had been damaged or destroyed, and that number is expected to be higher by the time the percentage of wildfire containment increases.

More than 70 utility poles have burned leaving areas without power. Families have been evacuated to nearby hotels with the fear of COVID-19 resurging in large displacement facilities.

This is exactly the kind of devastation in which Hurri-Dry Nationwide was created to help. In the instance of these wildfires, homes being damaged by these wildfires are terrible enough. However, the smoke from the wildfires can create damage as well and affect more properties with smoke and soot damage largely without flames even coming close to those properties.

Hurri-Dry Nationwide has made a home in Panama City Beach, Fla. for almost two years aiding hurricane restoration efforts which still remain. These wildfires are practically a stone’s throw from our company’s camp which allows us to be available immediately with emergency power, clean up and board up services until the restoration process can begin.

The restoration process for fire, smoke and soot damage involves initial assessment of damages by qualified and experts like Hurri-Dry Nationwide and its certified technicians. Securing the foundation is important to secure holes in the structure.

It is important to know that fire and water damage during a disaster come together. Many structures sustain water damage from fire protection first responders combating flames in an effort to make structures salvageable. Fortunately, Hurri-Dry Nationwide is proficient and certified to manage and restore damages from both elements, using professional techniques and applications to ensure mold does not grip the structure during the restoration process.

Smoke and soot damage can be almost impossible to clean without the proper restoration equipment and products. Hurri-Dry Nationwide can save a property owner/manager hundreds possibly thousands by providing the equipment needs and management personnel to ensure the equipment is used properly and most efficiently. Our company has the resources to provide all the specialized equipment needed to extract moisture from the property with special heaters and air movers. Only a deep scrubbing, sanding and refinishing will remove smoke from a property. Certified carpet and upholstery cleaning will also be in order.

Fire, smoke and soot damage is more than just some basic cleaning and repairs where these elements have caused problems, especially when there is a risk of its long term effects influencing the health of occupants when the process is complete. This is why it is important to have expert consulting services from certified professionals to fully understand the scope of removing, repairing and remodeling after damage has occured.

Hurri-Dry Nationwide offers not only a vast line of restoration equipment rental, sales, service and support but also project management, insurance claims management and estimating services using Xactimate software, a pricing program developed by the insurance industry. Our certified technicians near the panhandle area are ready to mobilize to begin the restoration process of these damages with an expert assessment and equipment to help reduce any further damages.
